Louisville/Jefferson County metro government (balance) has the most of any city in the state, with 309 — 18% of the total. ALPR law in Kentucky

Kentucky regulates automated license plate readers under 2026 Ky. Acts ch. 71 (HB 58). The statute caps retention at 90 days. Signed April 10, 2026, Kentucky's privacy act sets a 90-day retention limit with carve-outs and enumerates the permitted uses of plate data: criminal investigation, Transportation Cabinet functions, insurance-fraud and collateral-recovery work, and training with images redacted.
