Who makes America’s license plate readers
Volunteers record a manufacturer for most of the 130,300 readers documented across the United States. Flock Safety accounts for 82.4% of them. This index breaks the same cameras down by who built them, and follows each make out to the states and cities where it has been recorded.

“Other vendors” covers recorded manufacturers that match none of the major makes; “Unknown” means no manufacturer was recorded at all. Neither gets its own page, because neither describes a single company.
How to read this index
Manufacturer is read from the tags volunteers attach to each camera in OpenStreetMap, then sorted into the makes above. It is documentation rather than a vendor disclosure: a camera with no manufacturer tag counts as unknown, not as any particular brand, and an undercount is always more likely than an overcount. The methodology explains how the classification works.
The national figures on this page cover every documented camera. The state and city tables on each manufacturer page cover only cameras inside indexed cities — places where volunteers have documented at least ten — which is a subset of the national total, and each table says so.
