ALPR law in Maryland

Maryland regulates automated license plate readers under Md. Code, Public Safety § 3-509. Maryland caps use rather than time: an agency may not use captured plate data without a legitimate law enforcement purpose, and the statute sets no maximum retention period. Historical data may not be sold, may not be accessed by a vendor unless the agency expressly authorizes it, and violations carry up to a year in prison or a $10,000 fine.
